What is foiling?

Foiling is a variation of existing watersports such as windsurfing, kitesurfing and surfing by adding a different fin to the board.

The fin has a hydrofoil attached. The hydrofoil is similar to an aeroplane wing and when the hydrofoil moves through the water at around 8 knots it generates lift.

The hydrofoil lifts the board off the water and the rider is now gliding on the hydrofoil in the water.

Learning to foil

The best way to learn how to foil is to find a qualified instructor or foil school and have lessons.

There are two ways to learn how to ride a hydrofoil, either to be towed or to ride an e-foil.

Who are we?

We stand proudly united as one. The NSW Foil Club Inc. (NFC) is a committee of foil athletes. Our goal is to represent foilers and promote safe access to the sport throughout NSW.

The NFC has been working with local councils and NSW Martime to promote the sport and education the community on the spoty. We aim to continue the enjoyment of safe foiling within NSW.
